A Positive A Day #2: When in doubt, squat it out.

I have never been especially fat. However, I have never been happy with my body (who is?!) and I've never been happy with my fitness levels. One evening earlier this month, I literally felt as if I would never be happy again. I don't know what made me think of it, or what gave me the drive to do it, but after at least two hours of sobbing (typical woe is me attitude), I turned on YouTube and did a 10 minute Fat Blasting work out. I instantly felt happier. healthier and motivated to do... well anything!

A Positive A Day #1: We Were Never Meant To Survive (oh the irony)

Audre Lorde. "A Carribbean-American writer, radical feminist, womanist, lesbian and a civil rights activist" according to Wikipedia. Sounds like an incredibly controversial, marmite-type, woman, right? You will either fall in love with her, or categorically hate her.

I came across Lorde's collection of poetry, Black Unicorn, in one of my modules studying English at university. It's safe to say I have never been a lover of poetry, for some strange reason linking to primary school, and paired with Lorde's impenetrable opinions, I expected to find this collection a chore to read. However, I have been genuinely inspired by Lorde's poetry and never have I been more happy for my initial judgement to be proved wrong! Two poems which really struck me were "Power" and "A Litany For Survival". The former being the reason I am writing this post.

"Do something instead of killing time, because time is killing you"

My name is Katie. If you know me, which you probably don't, I'm painfully pessimistic. So I am using this blog as a way to make a positive change in my life. I am writing this for myself, not for anyone else. I want to be happy and love life. I hope my posts bring happiness/inspiration to other people visiting, however I am not going to promote this blog. I'll be for personal use, so if you have found it, enjoy!

I am hoping to write a post about every positive I find in my life, whether it is a book I read, a action I made, something someone else has done, etc. I want to be grateful for everything I have and stop dwelling on things that do not matter.

With every post I will attach a quote/image that I think fits, something to sum up the message I have learnt from that positive action.

So, from today, A Positive A Day begins!
